Outreach Spotlight: Cooking with City of Decatur

The Decatur Farmers Market team taught their second cooking class to City of Decatur employees as part of an ongoing partnership between the City of Decatur and the market to promote healthy living to the city staff. This class, taught by our educational chef Liz Crawshaw and market manager Porter Mitchell, highlighted fresh, seasonal ingredients from the Decatur Farmers Market in a simple, quick white bean bruschetta. The recipe is approachable, adaptable, and makes a great lunch or dinner. The city employees loved the bruschetta and enjoyed tasting some unfamiliar veggies like farm fresh arugula from Snapfinger Farm and sweet, juicy sungold tomatoes from Mealor Family Gardens. Even the most die-hard fast foodies enjoyed it! The class was a great introduction to the farmers market and seasonal cooking for our friends at the city.
