CFM was founded in 2011 by leaders in the local food movement in Atlanta to meet the demand for more efficiently-managed, community-based, sustainable farmers markets. These stakeholders included farmers and local leaders who worked for a more vibrant local food system and who have special interest, talents, or resources to build a stronger local food movement. The primary founders were Judith Winfrey (head of Slow Food Atlanta / Wholesome Wave Georgia at the time), Jonathan Tescher (East Atlanta Village Farmers Market Founder), and Katie Hayes (Founder Executive Director of CFM), The current Board of Directors is made up of key stakeholders in our local community and works to create a more vibrant local food system in Atlanta.
