Outreach Spotlight: Touch-a-Truck in Decatur

Local families turned out in droves for Decatur’s Touch-a-Truck event March 25 and our Decatur Farmers Market crew was a part of the fun. This annual event is must for young kids and their parents. Decatur gathers all of their service vehicles, including garbage trucks, school buses, fire trucks and more, and kids get to explore, honk horns, turn sirens on and pretend to drive.

Our market presence came in the form of a 1960 Ford pickup, driven by our very own Brandon from Dickey Farms. Outfitted with peach boxes and strawberry signs, it was an incredible advertisement for the fresh, local produce that our market provides to our communities. The kids loved climbing into the pickup truck — and even got to experience a visit from a tow truck. Brandon’s Ford broke down on the way, so the tow truck brought him to the event!

Members of our market advisory group were on hand to promote the spring markets and engage with kids and parents. We hope to see many of them at our coming Wednesday and Saturday markets.
