🍏 Apple, Cheese & Honey Tartine 🍯

Try this recipe from our Educational Chef Tatiana (@taurus.season.food ) ifyou’re looking for an elegant snack or light lunch that celebrates the season’s crisp  apples! Tart, juicy apple slices with a delicious goat gouda and a drizzle of honey over toasted sourdough - simple ingredients that embolden each other.
Ingredients ✨ (serves 2)
• Crimson Crisp (@georgiapeachtruck )
• Goat Gouda Cheese (@lamontagnedessaveurs )
• 2 tbsp honey
• 2 thick slices sourdough bread (@bloomsucreatlanta )
• 1 tbsp olive oil, for toasting (optional)
• Flaky sea salt, to taste
• Fresh thyme leaves or cracked black pepper, for finishing (optional)

Instructions ✨
    1.    Slice the sourdough into thick pieces and toast until golden and crisp - brush with butter or olive oil beforehand.
    2.    Spread fresh honey on the toast while it is still warm.
    3.    Thinly slice the apple and layer it on top of the toast. Coat the apples with honey.
    4.    Slice your cheese and layer it generously over the apples and warm toast so it softens slightly.
    5.    Drizzle with honey and finish with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
    6.    Add fresh thyme or cracked black pepper on top, and serve right away while the toast is still warm!

Amid the cyclospora outbreak, concerns about the provenance of imported beef affect farmers and consumers. These crises confirm the critical need for reliable local food systems.

We’re teaming up with @globalgrowers to visit two of their growing sites across Decatur & Clarkston, where immigrant and refugee farmers have been putting down roots since 2010, from a small group of Burundian families sharing one plot to a network of 200+ growers across metro Atlanta today. 🌱

When the pedaling’s done, we’re gathering for a farm-grown dinner curated by Chef Mia Orino and the @kamayan_atl team. Tita Mia knows exactly what it means to build a table where everyone belongs. Kamayan ATL grew out of pop-ups sharing Filipino food and culture with Atlanta. Today, Mia opens her kitchen to young Filipino entrepreneurs building their own businesses and shares the harvest through weekly meal distributions from her restaurant on Buford Highway. Two missions, one heart: making room for immigrant communities to grow, cook, and thrive. 💛

🍆 Charred Eggplant & Bell Pepper Spread 🌶️

Try this spread recipe curated by our Educational Chef Simon (@post_rigamortis ) Markets are almost always nicely stocked with a plethora of eggplants and bell peppers right now, and this smoky baba ghanoush-style spread lets you enjoy them more casually.

Ingredients ✨
• 3 Chinese eggplants
• 3 small bell peppers (or comparable sweet peppers)
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 2 tbsp tahini
• 1 tsp Baharat seasoning (or a comparable warm seasoning blend: 5 spice, za’atar, etc.)
• Salt, to taste
• Juice of 1 lemon
• 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions ✨
1. Start by charring your eggplants and peppers over your burner — if you have an induction burner, char your veg in a ripping hot pan. Once fully blackened, transfer the eggplant and peppers into a sealed container or covered bowl to let them steam. (This thoroughly cooks the eggplant; if it’s undercooked, your sauce will come out grainy and clumpy!)
2. Once steamed and soft, partially peel the char off and transfer everything to a blender with the remaining ingredients.
3. Blitz on high speed until smooth.
4. This would ideally be served over warm toast with a fried egg. Enjoy!
