Outreach Spotlight: Learning About Pollinators at SPARK

Springdale Park Elementary in our Ponce City Farmers Market neighborhood hosted a summer camp for English Language Learners and invited us to lead a lesson on the importance of pollinators in the production of fruits and vegetables.

We sang a song called “Fly like a Bumblebee” and then dressed students up like flowers and bumblebees to model to process of pollination. Then we visited the garden to watch the honeybees pollinator the flowers in the pollinator garden and to see the “fruits” of their labor throughout the seasonal garden.

From peaches…

To raspberries…

To tomatoes…

To strawberries!
